Our Mission
 

The Walkathon for NMPT is a student-led initiative dedicated to strengthening healthcare education in northern British Columbia by raising funds for the Northern Medical Programs Trust (NMPT) Endowment Fund. Through this annual event, we aim to bring together students, physicians, faculty, and community members to support the recruitment, education, and retention of healthcare professionals serving northern communities.

 

As students training in the North, we recognize that access to physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals directly shapes the health and sustainability of the communities we serve. The Walkathon for NMPT is our way of giving back to the region that supports our education and clinical training.

 

For over two decades, communities, local businesses, and organizations have contributed to the NMPT Endowment Fund to help place healthcare learners in rural and remote communities across northern BC — experiences that inspire many to build their careers in the North.

 

Through this fundraiser, every step taken and every donation made represents a shared investment in stronger healthcare for northern British Columbia.
